Who Is André Piet, the Man Behind this Website?
On March 2, 1961, André Piet saw the light of day and grew up in a Protestant (Christian Reformed) nursery family in Aalsmeer. After secondary school (1977), he had had enough of school and went to work in his father’s rose nursery, followed by various other jobs. For example, he worked for several years in a shop for horticultural supplies, later also as a sales representative, and he also worked, among other things, in a youth hotel in Amsterdam. From 1992 until early 2009 he worked at a nursery in Heliconias, a tropical cut flower.
In 2009 he made a switch to NT2 education. First as a civic integration teacher, then for about ten years as a freelance language teacher for, among others, the municipality of The Hague (“Taal in de Buurt”), various companies, employment agencies and/or educational institutions. Since the autumn of 2019, he has also put an end to that.

From his early childhood, André had a great interest in the Bible, and in his teenage years he became a passionate Bible researcher, and that has never changed since. Since the late eighties, he was also increasingly asked to speak in gatherings and became active as a Bible teacher.
In 1990, through his speaking engagements, he met his wife Petra Heemskerk. On April 21, 1992, they were married in Katwijk aan Zee. They also went to live there, and later in Rijnsburg. They had three children: Naomi (1993), Boaz (1997), and Jachin (1998), all of whom have, more or less, left home. By now André and Petra are also grandparents of two grandchildren.

In the year 2000, André started his own Bible study website: www.goedbericht.nl (UltimateGoodNews.com). It now contains thousands of articles, blogs, PowerPoints, audio files, and videos. André does this many-sided work, and everything that falls under it, as a matter of principle, free of charge. Since this work began to take up more and more of his time, in 2009 he founded the GoedBericht Foundation to give sympathizers the opportunity to support the work of GoedBericht (UltimateGoodNews.com). Petra also works a number of days at an accounting firm. Their aim is that André can free up as much time as possible for all the work surrounding “the Good Message.”
