But didn’t Paul consider his dying to be gain?

…that I shall not stand ashamed in any respect, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether through my life or through my death. For to me, life is Christ, and dying is gain.

This is about the gain for Christ. Christ would be magnified in Paul’s death.
Besides, also for the believer, dying is (indirectly) gain, for the next conscious moment will be the sounding of the trumpet! It is closing the eyes and opening them again… even if, meanwhile, thousands of years would have passed on earth.
