Does Luke 1:33 Prove That Christ Reigns “Without End”?
No. Although this verse contains two parallel sentences, the content is certainly not identical. Literally it says:
and He will be King over the house of Jacob into the eons
and of His Kingdom there will be no end.
This corresponds exactly to what we read in 1 Corinthians 15:22-28. There we read that Christ must reign until He has placed all His enemies under His feet. And afterward He will give the Kingdom back to God the Father. In other words, the reign of Christ has an “until,” after which the Kingdom will subsequently come into the hands of the Father permanently.
