1 Thessalonians 3:6 – Good News of Your Faith
06-10-2026 - Posted by Geert-Jan6 Yet at present, because of Timothy’s coming to us from you, and bringing us the evangel of your faith and your love, and that you have a good remembrance of us always, longing to see us even as we also you
Timothy had returned, and with him came the answer to Paul’s great concern. He brought him “the good news” of their faith and love. Here Paul uses the verb euangelizō: to bring good news. Concerning the very thing about which he had been concerned – their faith – he now received good news. It had remained firm under the afflictions, and their love had remained as well.
But Timothy had more to report. The Thessalonians always had a “good remembrance” of Paul and his coworkers. The opposition under which Paul had disappeared from their midst had therefore caused no estrangement. Nor had any possible doubt about his message broken their mutual bond. They remembered them with goodwill.
There was mutual longing as well. The Thessalonians longed to see Paul and his coworkers again, just as they longed to see the Thessalonians. Paul had already written how intensely he desired to see their faces (2:17). Now this longing proved to be entirely mutual. Distance, opposition, and affliction had broken neither their faith nor the love and fellowship produced by the evangel.
