Does Matthew 25:46 Prove That the Eonian Punishment Is as Endless as the Eonian Life?

No. Eonian life is the life of the coming eon, as we read in Luke 18:30. In the same way, eonian punishment is the punishment of the coming eon. “Eonian” in both cases points to the era in which both the life and the punishment will be experienced. That is, belonging to the coming aion. “Aionios,” the adjectival form of “aion,” never has the meaning of a time without end but refers to “aion.” Eonian refers to an eon just as yearly refers to year.

The word, moreover, that is translated as “punishment” in Matthew 25:46 is literally: chastening. It is an educational term and aims at the improvement of the one being chastened. An endless chastening is entirely foreign to Scripture and, in fact—as every right-minded parent will agree – a psychopathic idea.
