What Is the Term ‘Universal Reconciliation’ Derived From?
The term “Universal Reconciliation” is directly derived from Colossians 1:20. In Greek Paul writes there: “apokatalaxai ta panta” = reconciling the All.
…and through Him to reconcile all to Him (making peace* through the blood of His cross), through Him, whether those on the earth or those in the heavens. And you, being once estranged and enemies in comprehension, by wicked acts, yet now He reconciles…
* the translation “having made peace” (completed) is not correct. In Greek, an aorist stands here; that is a timeless verb form. God did not make peace on the cross. He makes peace through the cross (regardless of the point in time).
It is GOD who, through the blood of the cross, reconciles “the All” mutually with Himself. All-inclusive—that is the guarantee. With the only (logical) condition that one must be estranged or hostile in disposition.
