How Can You Have “Eternal Life” And Yet Die?

“Eternal life” is the life of the coming eon (Luke 18:30). The “having” of it is like the “having” of an inheritance. By virtue of a testament, you can have an inheritance even though the actual reception takes place at a much later point in time. So it is also with “eternal life”: the believer has it now (de jure), but receives it (de facto) later.

And Peter said: See, we have given up what is ours and have followed You. And He said to them: Verily, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the Kingdom of God, who will not RECEIVE many times more in this time AND IN THE COMING EON THE EON-IAN LIFE.
Luke 18:28–30
