Will “the Second Death” Come to an End?

Absolutely. After all, the Evangel is the message that death is abolished (2 Tim. 1:10) and swallowed up in victory (1 Cor. 15:54). The abolishing of death is realized only when all who are dying in Adam have been made alive as Christ, the Firstfruit, was made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22, 23), that is, in incorruption, glory, and power (1 Cor. 15:42, 43).

The abolishing of death takes place at the end of Christ’s reign, as we read in 1 Cor. 15:22–28. Now, in Revelation 21 and 22 this is not yet the case, since Christ and His own are still reigning there (22:1, 5). The abolishing of death (= the making alive of all), the Son’s relinquishing of the throne, and the handing over of the Kingdom to God the Father lie beyond the horizon of the book of “Revelation.” God cannot be “all in all” before all have been made alive and there will be no death anymore.
