Why Should We Tell Others the Gospel If They Will Be Saved Anyway?
The message that God is the Savior of all mankind – that is the Gospel (1 Tim. 4:9, 10), that is, the good news that everyone must know. How could people believe this if they have not first heard it?
Added to this is that those who believe the Gospel today are “firstfruits” and are thereby destined for the highest and foremost position. Hence God is the Savior of all mankind, but “especially of believers.” For the highest place in the coming Kingdom is reserved for them. The preaching of the Gospel as the proclamation of the Savior of all has, among its purposes, the gathering of an ecclesia, destined for the throne in the coming eons.
Those who may belong to the “firstfruits” today share in salvation first, but also most fully. They will be saved “out of the coming indignation” that will come upon the world. The others will not (1 Thess. 1:10). Also because Paul knew how greatly the Lord is to be feared, and recognized the seriousness of His judgments, he did everything to persuade people to faith (2 Cor. 5:11).
