Nisan 10
01-04-2004 - Posted by Geert-JanToday, according to the Jewish calendar, it is the 10th of the first month (Abib or Nisan). It is the memorable day on which Israel received a little lamb into the house, to slaughter it on the 14th of the month (Exodus 12). It is the day on which, forty years later, Israel came up from the Jordan to encamp at Gilgal (Joshua 4:19). It is also the day on which Jesus went in procession to Jerusalem (mistakenly called the entry into Jerusalem).
And… it is the day on which the Lamb of God made His entrance into the house of Israel. According to the literal reading of Luke 2:42, Jesus CAME TO BE twelve years old when He went up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. That brings us to Nisan 10 as Jesus’ birthday. Jesus was not a Christmas child. He was born shortly before Passover. Born to be slaughtered.

P.S.
Striking that precisely today (Nisan 10) the film ‘The Passion of the Christ’ premieres in our country (The Netherlands).
