EVERYTHING Has a Purpose

Proverbs 16:4 states:

4 YHWH has made everything for its own outcome, Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

“We believe that,” pious Christians say, “but… of course, God did not make the wicked. After all, someone’s being wicked can never be God’s intention. God most certainly is not the origin of moral evil.”

That is what “people” say. But here is God’s Word:

“YHWH has made EVERYTHING for its own outcome, YEA, EVEN THE WICKED for the day of evil.”

Did you read that carefully? It does not say here that God made the day of evil for the wicked – although that is undoubtedly true. No, it says that God made the wicked with a view to the day of evil!

On the forum, people indignantly exclaim, “Nowhere in the Bible does it say that eating the forbidden fruit was God’s intention.” Even if that statement were true, it is beside the point. For YHWH has made everything for His purpose. Everything that occurs – good and wicked alike – has a place in His all-encompassing Plan. And so nothing ever goes wrong with Him (nor is He a sinner – that is, one who misses the mark).
