What Happens to the Wicked After Dying?

The wicked person will rise at the “great white throne,” after the thousand years (Revelation 20). There he will be judged according to his works (Revelation 20:12). “Affliction and distress, on every human soul which is effecting evil,” we read in Romans 2:9. Everything will come to light and everything will be set right. The wicked person will no longer be a wicked person there. He will not be able to do otherwise than acknowledge the righteousness of God’s judgment and verdict.

When it appears that his name is not written in “the Book of Life,” he will be cast into “the lake of fire, which is the second death” (Revelation 20:14,15). He dies for a second time, is cremated, and will not experience the last, surpassing eon in which Christ reigns (Revelation 22:5).

Christ must reign until death, as the last enemy, has been abolished (1 Corinthians 15:25,26). He abolishes death by making alive the last class of people who are still dead at that time. When all people have been made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22), there is therefore no more death. Then every knee will bow and every tongue will wholeheartedly acclaim that Jesus is Lord, for the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:11). Then God will also become All in them (1 Corinthians 15:22-28).
